About - CSCS White Card

Not everyone working in construction is involved in manual labour or operating heavy machinery. Many contribute vital academic or professional expertise behind the scenes to help ensure projects are completed safely and correctly. To work on construction sites, these individuals should hold a CSCS White Card, which is obtained by passing the CITB test specifically for the White Card.

There are 2 kinds of CSCS White Cards:

CSCS White Card: For Professionals with Academic Qualifications

The Academically Qualified Person White Card is issued to individuals who have demonstrated academic expertise in a construction-related discipline. Acceptable qualifications include:

  • A 4 year Degree
  • An HND or HNC
  • A CIOB certificate
  • A National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) diploma

CSCS White Card: For Professionally Accredited Persons

To qualify for a CSCS Professionally Qualified Person White Card, you must provide proof of membership in a CSCS-recognised professional organisation, such as the Royal Institution of British Architects, the Chartered Institute of Building, or the Institution of Civil Engineers. The card is valid for 5 years and cannot be renewed; however, you can apply for a new card after it expires to confirm your continued good standing with the professional body.
